“No strategy at all”: Trump trade rep grilled by senators over US tariffs

From Global News.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer testified before the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday on U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policy, where senators grilled him over sweeping tariffs that sparked a global trade war and sent stock markets tumbling.

Senator Thom Tillis spoke about the "alla prima" approach by the Trump administration and said that someone will have to own this approach choice, asking Greer, "whose throat do I get to choke if this proves to be wrong."

Greer defended the Trump administration’s decision to apply a 10% tariff on Australia despite a free trade agreement.

Sen. Ron Wyden asked if higher tariffs will still go into effect tomorrow and told Greer that he’s concerned the administration has "no strategy at all."
