Nobel Prize-winning scientist Katalin Karikó reacts to the US government’s decision to cut funding for mRNA vaccine research. Karikó, who won the 2023 Nobel Prize for her work in RNA biology, says, “Those scientists who want to advance, they might move to another country.” She argues that HHS Secretary Kennedy Jr. is not well-placed to make these decisions and cautions, “When science and knowledge here is under attack and funding is low, it is really the next generation who will suffer the most.” Karikó also points out that cutting support could leave the US vulnerable in future pandemics: “We may have to beg other countries to help us out.” #CNN #News
