Maj. Andre Ray, New York State Police troop commander, said late Friday that the driver of a tour bus that crashed and killed five people had "became distracted, lost control, overcorrected."

Several others were injured.

According to police, the bus slammed into a median, rolled and ended up in a ditch. They say people inside were ejected as the windows shattered.

There were 54 people aboard the bus, which was travelling from Niagara Falls to New York City, when it overturned.
