Pakistan train hijack: posts misrepresent old footage

On March 11, 2025, militants from the Baloch Liberation Army attacked a train and took some 450 hostages in southwest Pakistan.

That same day, two videos circulated widely on X and other platforms claiming to be related to the attack.

One was a video of an explosion on a moving train and another claimed to show the Baloch Liberation Army claiming responsibility.

Both posts used the hashtag "PakistanTrainHijack".

BUT, both posts featured old footage from the Baloch Liberation Army, unrelated to the March 11th attack.

Devesh Mishra in New Delhi demonstrates how he found the origins of both videos and what they truly show.
