British photographer Nick Stern has undergone emergency surgery after being hit by a projectile he says was a flashbang explosive device while covering the immigration protests in Los Angeles.
Demonstrations continued Monday for a fourth day, as the Pentagon deployed marines to help National Guard members and police respond to the protests.
