There is a new glimmer of hope for peace in part of the Middle East.

The leader of an armed group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, has called for his militant group affiliates in Iraq and Syria to lay down their weapons and bid to end a four-decade conflict with Turkey.

While this development does not impact the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, it could potentially lead to peace in several different countries across the region
