It was a terrifying moment at the Novy Urengoy airfield in Russia, as a plane skidded down the runway. Reports say the craft’s left landing gear broke. That caused its landing to be anything but smooth, as it careened to the side. The icy conditions didn’t help, but the snow on the ground may have muted the impact. Afterwards, the prop plane rested on its side, as crews worked to dig it out. An investigation is being launched to understand more about the accident.
