Poilievre promises to repeal federal carbon pricing for industrial emissions

A government led by Pierre Poilievre would repeal both the federal consumer carbon tax and standards for pricing greenhouse gas emissions from large industrial emitters, the Conservative leader said at a news conference in L’Orignal, Ont. At the same time, Poilievre said ‘provinces will continue to have the freedom to address’ industrial emissions ‘how they like.’

CORRECTION (March 17, 2025): At 4:08 and 4:21, it’s referenced that Pierre Poilievre spoke at an event in Quebec. He actually spoke in L’Orignal, Ont.
