Peel Regional Police are expected to provide an update Thursday morning after a man was killed in an officer-involved shooting at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says a 30-year-old man was shot by Peel Regional Police officers on Thursday morning, and has since died.

The SIU, which acts as the province’s police watchdog, said the shooting happened just before 7 a.m. at the airport’s Terminal 1 departures area. The SIU said Peel Regional Police officers were investigating at the airport for a man in distress in an SUV.

Three officers fired their guns at the man, the SIU said, adding no officers were injured and there is no known threat to the public.
