Pope Francis makes 1st public appearance at Vatican since leaving hospital

From Global News.

Pope Francis made a surprise entrance to St. Peter’s Square during a special Jubilee Mass for the sick and health workers on Sunday, marking his first public appearance at the Vatican since leaving the hospital two weeks ago. The pontiff had a life-threatening bout with pneumonia.

“Happy Sunday to everyone, thank you very much.,’’ the Pope said, speaking into a microphone.

Pope well-wishers expressed their joy, one saying, "I hope he does not suffer, that he is at peace, in the peace of God.”

"I don’t know how to explain it. It was just a feeling that I have no words for it. It was beautiful, it was beautiful," said Jessica Cardenas, an American member of the Catholic Church.
