Rare New Zealand snail filmed for the first time laying egg from its neck | AFP #shorts

The Mount Augustus snail, a rare species of snail from New Zealand, has been filmed for the first time squeezing an egg from its neck. A conservation ranger said she was gobsmacked to witness the critically endangered snail laying the egg — a reproductive act well documented in other land snails but never filmed for this species. Little is known about the reproduction of the Mount Augustus snail, which can grow so large that New Zealand’s conservation department calls them "giants of the snail world".
