Rescue workers and residents in the Colombian municipality of Bello, Antioquia, worked to clear mud on Wednesday in hopes of finding survivors of the deadly landslide that struck the town a day earlier, on Tuesday.

“The avalanche came, buried houses, gas cylinders fell, people,” said landslide victim Johana Serna. “We have much sadness in our hearts seeing how a community was lost, seeing how lives were lost."

At least 13 people were killed, according to Colombian media outlets.

Municipal authorities have also evacuated other sectors considered at risk.
