Heavy security and roadblocks are not detering some protesters in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, as they clash with police and set their own makeshift blockades in parts of the city. However, many people appear to be staying home on the so-called Saba Saba Day (meaning Seven Seven) which commemorates July 7, 1990 when Kenyans rose up to demand a return to multi-party democracy after years of autocratic rule by then-president Daniel Arap Moi.
