Brazil is home to the greatest diversity of wild cats in the world, with nine documented species. All of them are endangered due to human activity — particularly unchecked urban sprawl. At this sanctuary in Brazil’s most populous state of Sao Paulo, animals including pumas and jaguars are protected and mended from the risks of being hit by cars, electrocuted, poisoned, trapped, or shot by poachers.
