“She was screaming”: 2 people killed, several others rescued from Calgary house fire

Calgary police said two people are dead following a house fire early Thursday morning in the community of Taradale.

Fire crews responded just after 1:15 a.m. after a neighbour spotted flames coming from the home on Taralake Way and called 911.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting from both floors of the home and threatening to spread to neighbouring houses.

One adult, identified by police as a man in his 50s, was found dead inside the home during an initial search by firefighters.

A child was carried out of the home and rushed to hospital by EMS in critical, life-threatening condition.
