Robert Francis Prevost, to be known as Pope Leo the 14th is 69-year-old. He was raised in Dolton, Illinois, just outside Chicago. The election of the first American-born pope as the leader of the Catholic Church is sending shock waves around the world. Serving the Roman Catholic Church runs in Pope Leo’s family. Two of his aunts are nuns. He became a cardinal in 2023 when he was appointed by Pope Francis. Pope Leo holds dual citizenship, both American and Peruvian.
