There’s growing concern that political tensions in South Sudan could prompt a return to civil war. That’s after authorities arrested Vice President Riek Machar on charges of trying to stir a rebellion. A peace deal reached in 2018 between South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir and Machar appears to be unravelling. Clashes between their forces have sparked fears of full-blown civil war.
