SpaceX did it AGAIN, they caught their rocket booster! But it didn’t all go exactly as planned. Here’s what happened with the recent Flight 7…

Catching this booster again is a HUGE deal. When a rocket is launched and reaches the boundaries of space, it breaks apart. The spaceship portion goes off into space, and the rocket booster portion comes back to earth.

Traditionally NASA has their rocket boosters fall into the ocean – but that means costly recovery.

But SpaceX has now for the second time directed that booster back to ground and caught it! Which is just SO COOL. And matters for making space flight more sustainable and cheaper.

But the spaceship portion ran into trouble: It appears they had an oxygen and fuel leak, and “disassembled” in the atmosphere.

All in, it’s a big moment that shows both the challenges of space and a leap toward making space more accessible.
