Squirrel goes head-to-head with rattlesnake

From ABC News.

A ground squirrel was seen tossing wood chips, jumping around and flicking its tail at a southern Pacific rattlesnake who had likely just eaten one of its kind, according to the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

The squirrel might have been fighting the snake to defend its home or protect other squirrels nearby, as they have evolved unique anti-snake tactics, the agency said.

The interaction lasted about eight minutes. The rattlesnake rattled and struck in response, but didn’t chase, likely too full to fight.
