Sudan’s brutal civil war is entering its third year and there are signs the darkest chapters may still lie ahead.

The United Nations (UN) estimates at least 24,000 people have died, while almost 12 million have been forced from their homes. The UN also says more than 24 million are suffering from acute hunger due to the war.

Redmond Shannon reports on the relentless violence, the international peace efforts and what advocates say is needed in the path to peace.
