The New Pope is an American: Pope Leo XIV

There’s a new pope – and his name is Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost – now, Pope Leo XIV. White smoke issued from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican on Thursday – indicating that the conclave had elected a new pontiff. Pope Leo XIV was born in 1955. He is the first pope to be born in America. An Augustinian, he was a math major at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. We’ll be learning more about him in the days ahead.
