Democrat Sen. Bernie Sanders stood up in the U.S. Senate Wednesday to call on Congress to end American military aid to Israel.

Quoting a Brown University Research Council report that estimated the U.S. has paid for 70 per cent of the war in Gaza, Sanders said American taxpayers have been used to “starve children, bomb schools, kill civilians and support the cruelty of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and his criminal ministers.”

The Gaza health ministry reported seven more hunger-related deaths Wednesday, including a seven-year-old girl with an existing health condition.

The White House said Thursday it had sent special envoy Steve Witkoff to the region. Witkoff is expected to inspect food distribution in Gaza on Friday alongside U.S. ambassador Mike Huckabee.
