Former president Joe Biden slammed U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration at the National Bar Association’s 100th Annual Awards Gala in Chicago on Thursday.

Biden referred to Trump as “this guy, we have a president” and called on attendees to uphold justice and the Constitution.

Biden said the U.S. is under pressure from the administration, adding that law firms were “bending to bullies instead of staying rooted in justice of the law, including some of the largest newspapers in America.”

“These are dark days,” the former president said, and called on attendees to fight for the future. “We need to face the hard truths of this administration. It has been to erase all the gains we’ve made in my administration," he said.
