From Global News.
Cambodia is accusing the Thai army of unlawfully capturing 20 Cambodian soldiers, following a fragile ceasefire between the two nations.
On Wednesday, Cambodian military officials invited military attachés and diplomats to a damaged checkpoint in Preah Vihear province to observe the ceasefire, which has persisted for two days despite reports of violations and detentions.
"This is our territory, this is our sovereignty," said Maj.-Gen. Chan Sopheaktra, adding, "At the moment, we are asking (for) an immediate release of these soldiers."
Thailand is expected to return the Cambodian soldiers once a permanent ceasefire is agreed on, he said, adding that the bodies of two deceased Cambodian soldiers were returned on Tuesday.
