According to both the U.N. and the Israeli government, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced by Israel’s most recent military operation in the occupied West Bank, which began just two days after the ceasefire went into effect in Gaza. It’s the largest displacement of Palestinians in the territory in more than 50 years. Israel says the operation is for counterterrorism. Palestinian leaders worry it could lead to Israel annexing parts of the West Bank.
