Toronto’s St. Joseph’s Health Centre was forced to cancel all “non-essential” activities Friday after a boiler system failure cut off its supply of heat and hot water.

Unity-Health Toronto called the boiler failure an “emergency situation” and urged patients to seek help elsewhere.

It came as temperatures in Toronto were expected to drop to -13 C overnight.
