U.S. President Donald Trump will announce new measures on Monday to tackle homelessness and crime in Washington, D.C.

This comes one week after a former Doge staffer was assaulted by teens in the District of Columbia, prompting Trump to mandate an increase in federal police to combat crime in the U.S. capital.

The Republican leader has even suggested he may deploy the National Guard to aid these efforts, echoing actions he took in California earlier in the year during an uptick of anti-ICE protests.

Trump’s talks of cracking down on crime has renewed concerns of overreach and the use of unnecessary force among U.S. citizens.
