President Donald Trump announced plans for a massive new addition to the White House that will to replace the East Wing, traditionally used for the first lady’s offices, with a 90,000-square-foot ballroom.​​ The president estimates the project will cost $200 million, a price he says he’ll cover with private donors, describing it to NBC News as his "gift to the country.” Construction is set to begin in September. NBC’s Peter Alexander reports for TODAY.
