Three years on from the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, we’re seeing some shocking diplomatic shifts in the United States’ support of Ukraine.

U.S. President Donald Trump flipped the script earlier this week, calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator” and accusing Ukraine of starting the war.

Andrea Chandler, political science professor at Carleton University, tells Global News that Trump’s comments undermine the ability to work towards a peace process.
