U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that he “knows nothing about” an AI-generated image of him dressed like the Pope, adding that he “had nothing to do with it.”

Trump went on to defend the image, however, saying that it was done in jest and that his wife Melania Trump “thought it was cute.”

Some in the Catholic community have criticized the image posted to the president’s Truth Social account and the official White House X account.
