From DW News.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump. The two are set to discuss a wide range of topics including the ceasefire with Hamas and Israeli concerns over Iran’s regional influence.
Netanyahu is the first foreign leader to visit Trump in his second term. He said he hopes to secure the White House’s backing to ‘redraw the map of the Middle East’ in Israel’s favor. The two leaders have enjoyed good relations in the past, but Trump has said he wants to end wars in the Middle East, not encourage more fighting.
This meeting could be a test of the ties between the two leaders, and an early indicator of Trump’s approach to the Middle East.
