President Donald Trump is reportedly set to issue an executive order to try to eliminate the Department of Education. Trump cannot abolish an entire department without Congress, but the administration may look for ways to defund programs instead, according to The Washington Post. The impact could be far reaching, with the department saying it serves more than 50 million students across the country. NBC’s Peter Alexander reports for TODAY.
