U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States is "pretty close to a deal,” when it came to peace talks for the war in Ukraine.

The U.S. and Russia have been holding talks in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, has been critical of the talks saying they cannot take place behind the back of Ukraine.

Trump also said “I want [Ukraine] to give us something,” for the $350 billion he says the U.S. has provided so far for the war effort. Trump complained about former president Biden giving the money without equalization with Europe and not making it a loan like Europe did — “they’ll get their money back.”

Trump says he’ll be asking for “rare-earth, oil, anything we can get.”
