Trump signals he’d support arresting Gov. Newsom #shorts

From PBS NewsHour.

On Monday, while talking to reporters on the White House South Lawn, President Donald Trump signaled that he would support his “border czar”
Tom Homan arresting California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who dared Homan to arrest him after Trump sent National Guard troops to Los Angeles on Sunday.
Trump sent troops to the city to quell clashes between protesters opposing recent raids by immigration officers. In a memo, Trump said he acted under a rarely used law because the demonstrations “constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the government of the United States.”

On social media, Newsom requested that the Trump administration withdraw the troops, calling it a "serious breach of state sovereignty.”

While speaking to MSNBC Sunday, Newsom dared Homan to arrest him saying, “Tom, arrest me, let’s go.” Newsom also stated that he planned to file a lawsuit Monday against the administration to withdraw the National Guard troops, calling the deployment of the troops without his permission “illegal and immoral.”

On Monday, Trump was asked by a reporter if Homan should arrest Newsom. “I’d do it if I were Tom," Trump said. "I think it’s great.”
The president said that while he liked Newsom, he called the governor "grossly incompetent."
