US President Donald Trump’s erratic trade moves are hurting business at one of Europe’s largest logistics hubs.
At the port in Duisburg, Germany, shipping companies are taking departures out of their timetables, said Markus Bangen, who heads the company operating the world’s largest inland container harbor. They’re rattled by Trump’s tariffs, which have prompted manufacturers led by Volkswagen AG’s Audi to pause exports to the US.
“Within a few days, basic trust has been destroyed,” Bangen said in an interview. “Everyone who can stop deliveries to the US is doing so.”
