As Donald Trump’s tariffs cast a huge shadow over the Canadian federal election, he has also threatened to impose even greater tariffs on Ottawa and the European Union if they work together to carry out “economic harm” to the U.S.

The new warning comes after Trump signed an executive order for 25 per cent tariffs on all foreign-made cars and light trucks, in addition to tariffs already in place on those goods.

The auto tariffs, set to go into effect on April 2, would not apply on U.S.-made parts in foreign-made vehicles, according to the order.
