US President Donald Trump stepped up pressure on Jerome Powell to cut interest rates, the White House says, describing his first sit-down with the chairman of the Federal Reserve since his return to office. Trump said "he believes the Fed chair is making a mistake by not lowering interest rates, which is putting us at an economic disadvantage to China and other countries," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tells reporters in Washington.
