UK Supreme Court rules definition of “woman” refers to biological sex

From Global News.

The United Kingdom’s Supreme Court ruled that the definition of a woman under equality laws referred to "biological sex," a decision that has sparked concern among transgender advocates and human rights groups, but celebration among women’s rights activists.

“It feels just like we’re following in the footsteps of Trump’s America,” said Heather Herbert, a trans campaigner and former Labour candidate. “No judge can tell me who I am… it just feels like an attack on trans people.”

The ruling said trans people would not be disadvantaged by its landmark decision, which is the latest example of the wider debate around transgender rights ending up before the courts.
