UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the United Kingdom will recognise the state of Palestine in September unless Israel takes "substantive steps", including agreeing to a ceasefire and ending the "appalling situation in Gaza". "I can confirm the UK will recognise a state of Palestine by the United Nations General Assembly in September unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps," Starmer says in a statement at Downing street following a cabinet meeting.
