The 2024 Berlin Equal Rights Coalition Conference is taking place in Berlin on December 17-18. Human rights activists and policymakers are discussing LGBTQI+ rights, resilient democracies, the role of foreign policy, pathways to LGBTQI+ inclusion in national laws and policies, and Feminist Foreign Policy, among other topics.

DW political correspondent Tina Gerhäusser spoke with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, at the conference about the protection of human rights, the future of human rights in Syria, whether the Syrian Islamist group HTS will defend minorities, and the pushback regarding LGBTQI+ rights worldwide.
