From DW News.
US media outlets are reporting that President Donald Trump was informed in May that his name appears in materials related to the case of Jeffrey Epstein who died in prison in 2019. Calls to declassify those documents have grown louder with Trump’s relationship to the convicted sex offender under close scrutiny. It’s scrutiny the Republican leader of the House of Representatives appeared keen to avoid when he sent the chamber into summer recess a day early.
In addition, there are accusations of a coup, treason and of stealing an election. These are harsh words there, spoken by a sitting US president about…one of his predecessors. Donald Trump didn’t hold back when he was asked a question in the Oval Office about Jeffrey Epstein’s former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. His reply was unexpected, the target of his anger even more so. The president didn’t answer the question, instead he made a pivot – bringing up old grievances about the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Trump was clear about who he believes was to blame… Barack Obama.
