From PBS NewsHour.
The movie version of the musical "Wicked" soared at the box office and earned 10 Oscar nominations, including one for costume designer Paul Tazewell.
For Tazewell, who won a Tony for his work on "Hamilton" and an Emmy for NBC’s "The Wiz Live," the film is the biggest thing he’s ever been involved in.
PBS News Hour’s Jeffrey Brown spoke to Tazewell about the vision behind his Oscar-nominated work.
Tazewell said he brings his life experiences to the story and characters he’s working on.
"I have to build some kind of connection in order to have an honest take on what a character might wear," he said.
