The driver who rammed through a crowded Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Wednesday acted alone and was inspired by ISIS, said FBI’s Christopher Raia on Thursday at a news conference.
"We do not assess at this point that anyone else is involved in this attack, except for Shamsud-Din Jabbar," said Raia, the deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division.
The suspect, U.S. Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year, killing at least 14 and injuring at least 35 others.
The suspect was killed at the scene and authorities found an ISIS flag and weapons in his truck.
The FBI is investigating the deadly attack as an act of terrorism.
