"We never wished for chaos," French President Emmanuel Macron said when he was asked about Trump’s economic policy.

Countries from the European Union, including France, face 25% import tariffs on steel, aluminum and cars, and broader tariffs of 20% for almost all other goods under Trump’s policy.

Speaking during a visit to Egypt, Macron added that he thought the tariffs were a bad idea and France would retaliate.
