“We will stand up and fight “: BC outlines retaliation in response to Trump tariff threats

From Global News.

On Tuesday, B.C. Premier David Eby says the province is considering restricting the BC liquor distribution branch from purchasing and stocking American alcohol as retaliation if U.S. tariffs come into effect – just one potential form of retaliation.

U.S. President Donald Trump, declared February 1st as the date a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian goods heading south could come in. If they do, Eby says British Columbians should also reconsider travel plans.

Eby said he does not understand why Trump would impose these tariffs. “It’s not a fight we signed up for,” he said. “But I assure every American and certainly, especially the president, the Canadians will fight. We will stand up and fight. That includes making decisions about how we spend our money. We will not spend money in a country that wants to do economic harm to Canadians.”

Global’s Richard Zussman has more on B.C.’s three-step tariff plan.
