What are the international expectations ahead of the Trump-Putin talks in Alaska? | DW News

From DW News.

It’ll be late evening in Kyiv by the time Trump and Putin sit down; the best-case scenario for most people here would be not waking up to bad news on Saturday. Hopes for a ceasefire are dim, while concerns are high about Trump promising a lot more than Ukraine is willing to concede. An earlier mention of "land swaps" by Trump has raised hackles here. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has repeatedly asked for a seat at the table, which Trump says he’ll work towards in Alaska. The president and Ukrainians have made it clear that they will not accept decisions on Ukraine that do not include Ukraine.
