Israel approved plans Monday to expand its military operation and seize the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Cabinet ministers voted to send an additional tens of thousands of troops into Gaza with a mission to hold the territory.

Israel, which has blocked aid from entering Gaza for more than two months amid a desperate humanitarian crisis there, also approved a plan to take over the distribution of humanitarian aid in the area.
