At a White House briefing on Thursday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the U.S. strikes on Iran, calling President Trump’s operation a “total obliteration” of the regime’s nuclear facilities. She condemned media reports that questioned the efficacy of the strikes, adding that the U.S. believed there was no indication that any enriched uranium was removed from any of the three sites in Iran targeted.
The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency Director Rafael Grossi, reiterated on Thursday that the damage done by Israeli and U.S. strikes at Iranian nuclear facilities “is very, very, very considerable.”
On Thursday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei downplayed the U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites using bunker-buster bombs and cruise missiles, saying that U.S. President Donald Trump — who said the attack “completely and fully obliterated Iran’s nuclear program — had “exaggerated” its impact.
