Why do we even like the sound of harmony? Why would humanity have evolved to be sensitive to not just the sound of pitch, but the sound of different pitches interacting? Did it somehow provide a survival benefit that evolution then selected for? Or is our love of musical harmony simply a by-product of how our minds evolved to perceive language?
