A perceived lack of transparency over the US investigations into notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has carved a rare chasm between Donald Trump and his typically loyal Republican base. The US President has now blasted his own supporters and "stupid" Republicans, attacking anyone who questions his administration’s handling of the case of the dead sex criminal. Trump’s statements follow days of him struggling to brush off conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein long embraced by his base.
Now the US President is threatening to sue The Wall Street Journal and owner Rupert Murdoch over a story about an alleged off-colour letter he wrote to Jeffrey Epstein.
